What can I say. Today was a travel day. We ate McDonalds (for the last time this trip) and headed in the right direction. For the first half of the drive, Dodi slept in the back while Rex drove and listened to "Travis McGee" mysteries. When we stopped for gas Dodi took over and we finished listening to mysteries. We had some trouble with the tape player or the tape where the voices would get some sort of high pitched noise garbling the sound. Stopping and restarting the tape would help it, but only for a little while. We tried a different player (Dodi's walkman) which would work a bit and then the tape deck would work a bit - it was almost a relief to be done with the story so we didn't have to deal with the irritation. |
About 3/4 of the way we went through Chicago. We passed right by Lake Michigan. Our watchword for today was Tolls. We must have hit between 5 and 7 toll booths along the way. They ranged in price from as high as $8 to the last four which were only $.40 each. We are rapidly running out of change. |
I have been making all these animated GIFs of various interesting or famous things. Here is one that I cooked up. I took the photos across the street from the White House, in some famous park or another. Enjoy! |
